If you’ve noticed a decline in your Instagram reach recently, you’re not alone.
Many people have complained that their posts just don’t seem to be performing as well as they used to.
This is why I thought I’d give you an update on what type of content performs best and what’s not performing so well.
Here’s a list of content types, in order of most to least, when it comes to reaching new people on Instagram and getting more exposure for your business:
1. Instagram Reels
You either love them or hate them, but you can’t argue that reels are currently the most powerful type of content to get more eyes on your account. If you’re not including reels in your content strategy, I highly recommend that you start.
2. Carousel Posts
People seem to really love carousel posts and as a result, these types of posts seem to be more likely to be featured on the explore page. This provides you with a great opportunity to reach more people!
3. Live Video
Instagram Live was introduced back in November 2016 and today, the platform is still giving live video priority treatment. Lives are great for reaching more people and building trust and rapport with your audience.
When Instagram first introduced IGTV, sharing these long-form videos provided a great opportunity for increased exposure. These days, I find that this type of video content doesn’t seem to reach quite as many people as using Instagram’s newest video feature, Reels. It is important to note that IGTV still provides a great opportunity to build trust with your audience so, in my opinion, is still worth including in your content strategy.
5. Static Posts/Videos
Static photos and short feed videos just aren’t getting the reach they once did. Videos perform better than static posts but not by much. If reaching more people is an important goal for you, I would recommend sharing this type of content sparingly.
